THE LEGION OF MARY
The Legion of Mary
is a lay Catholic organization founded in Dublin, Ireland on September
7, 1921. There are two types of membership.

ACTIVE: These
members are required to attend a weekly meeting and undertake
assigned apostolic works.
-
AUXILIARY: These
members support the active members through their prayers- daily
rosary and prayers in the Legion's pamphlet called a "Tessera".
The object of the
Legion is the glory of God through the holiness of its members by
prayers and apostolic works.
The legion of Mary
at the cathedral was organized in February, 1952. Meetings are held
every
Monday evening in Room #205 of St. Albert Hall at 6:30 p.m.
The assigned
apostolic works by the Cathedral's legionaries include:

Visitation at
Baptist Hospital and Bordeaux Hospital

Visitation at
Nursing Homes - Richland Health Care, Belcourt Nursing Home,
Nashville health Care, Trevecca Health Care and Mariner health of
Nashville
-
Visitation of
the homebound
-
Visitation of
auxiliary members
-
