"Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained." John 20,23 We
all sin everyday. But, all sins - big or small - can be forgiven if only
we ask for it with a contrite heart. The Sacrament of Penance - commonly
called "confession" or "reconciliation" - is a sacrament
of healing. It's a gift from God that allows us to strengthen our relationship
with him and celebrate his forgiving love. All it requires is to be sorry
for your sins and intend to not sin again. Children typically celebrate their first Sacrament of Penance at the ages 7-8, prior to First Holy Communion. Adults typically make their first confession through the RCIA process. If it has been years since your last confession, and you don't know what to do, simply let the priest know. He will guide you through the process. Confessions are regularly scheduled at Cathedral on Saturday from 3:30 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. You may schedule confession at other times by calling (615) 327.2330.
