Solemn Vespers
Sunday, November 23, 2008
4:30 p.m. - Cathedral

I am writing to let you know that next Sunday, November 23, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, the Cathedral Choir will sing Solemn Vespers in the Cathedral at 4:30 PM.

The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed, and the service will conclude with Benediction. The service will last approximately 45 minutes.

This could be an opportunity for those to whom you minister to participate in the official public prayer of the Church in a manner not frequently available, and to be exposed to elements of Catholic Culture with which they may be unfamiliar. All are warmly invited.

Jackson Schoos, Director of Music

Learning Opportunity

Sunday Mornings in November THE PROFESSION OF FAITH: WHAT WE BELIEVE: During November, Sunday morning classes for adults will explore the basic statements of faith made in both the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. This four-week series supplements and enriches Why Catholic, the small group-based formation program exploring what it means to be Catholic. Presenters for the Sunday morning classes are Patout Burns, Edward A. Malloy Professor of Catholic Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School, and David Dault, assistant professor of Theology at American Baptist College. The classes take place in room 303 St. Albert Hall from 9:45- 10:45 a.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

CATHEDRAL YOUNG ADULTS FALL SCHEDULE

  • SERVICE OPPORTUNITY - SPONSORS ARE NEEDED FOR RCIA Parishioners are asked to consider becoming RCIA sponsors. We will need about 15 sponsors for the current group of inquirers. Young Adults are especially encouraged to become sponsors as many of the inquirers are in their 20s and 30s. The RCIA team tries to match sponsors to inquirers based on gender, interests, or age group. We need a large pool of sponsors from which to find the right matches. Please contact Nancy Brown, nlb2723@yahoo.com if you are willing to be considered as a sponsor.

  • Room in the Inn also needs volunteers. It would be great if Cathedral Young Adults could take responsibility for a Tuesday night between December and March to host our homeless guests.
